MODIFIED CLASS DEMO DERBY RULES
DRESSER, WI
SATURDAY MAY 24, 2008
START TIME 5:00 P.M.

GENERAL EXPLANATION:

This Demolition Derby is designed and promoted as a spectator attraction and in the interest of safety anyone entering is subject to the following rules and regulations that are hereby set fourth by Motorsports Promotions and Trollhaugen Ski Resort, James Roshford and Minnesota Go 4 Wheelers Inc.

1.  All drivers must fill out an application and be mailed no later than April 26, 2008.

2.  There will be NO refunds and NO change in drivers.

3.  All cars MUST BE on the grounds by 12:00 noon and be inspected prior to the mandatory
     Drivers meeting at 3:00 pm SHARP!  If any changes you will be notified by Motorsports
     Promotions.

4.  All drivers must be 18 years or older and must possess a valid drivers license.
    IF YOU DON’T HAVE A DRIVERS LICENSE YOU DON’T RUN!!

5.  Motorsports Promotions and Trollhaugen Ski Resort, James Roshford and Minnesota Go 4               
     Wheelers Inc. reserve the right to approve or reject any or all applications.

6.  ONLY DRIVER AND ONE PIT PERSON IS PERMITTED THROUGHT PIT GATE.  All
     Others must enter through the main gate entrance.  PIT PERSON MUST COME IN
     WITH DRIVER AND CAR OR WILL HAVE TO PAY REGULAR GATE FEE.  You will be
     Able to purchase extra pit passes for $15.00 for entry in the pits.

7.  NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 16 IS ALLOWED IN THE PIT AREA.

8.  Your vehicle must be ready before coming to the check in gate.  You will not work on
     Your vehicle after it has been inspected.  If you are having problems getting it started,
     Come and see one of our officials.

IF IT’S NOT IN THE RULES DON’T DO IT!!!

PROGRAM AND PRIZE MONEY:

1.  There will be one (1) heat.  Entry fee is $40.00 which includes driver      
     And one (1) pit person.

2.  There will be a payback of 1st place $800.00, 2nd place $600.00, 3rd place $400.00,
     4th place $200.00,  Payout total is $2000.00.


GENERAL RULES:

All drivers, pit person and family members doing any harassment, swearing or fighting with any official and/or other derby drivers or pit persons will be eliminated and taken off the grounds.  NO prize money will be awarded to you.  Any problems or comments see on of our Tech Officials.

1.  Vehicle appearance for entry must be approved by Motorsports Promotions and
    Trollhaugen Ski Resort, James Roshford and Minnesota Go 4 Wheelers Inc.
        NO PROFANITY OR RACIAL SLURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2.  Helmets and eye protection must be worn by ALL DRIVERS.  This demo will be stopped
     If there is a violation of this rule and any driver NOT wearing and helmet and eye
     Protection.  Infraction of this rule and any other driver will result in disqualification
     From the rest of the demo derby and no prize money will be awarded.

DO NOT REMOVE YOUR HELMET UNTIL OFFICIALS GIVE YOU THE OK TO DO SO.  YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED IF IT COMES OFF BEFORE THE DERBY IS OVER!!!  DO NOT JUST OUT OF YOUR VEHICLE UNTIL YOU ARE TOLD TO DO SO BY THE OFFICIALS!!!

***Vehicle must be equipped with a shoulder harness and seat belt.  Harness must cross your chest either one way or two ways, single release buckle for seat and shoulder belts.  All belts, harness and seat itself must be securely anchored.  Seat belt must have a 2” washer where bolted through the sheet metal.

3.   Hitting the drivers door is not allowed and would be caused for disqualification. 
     Decisions by the officials will be FINAL!!!

4.  Any vehicle that is put on time by the officials will have 2 minute time rule, the
    Vehicle will be FLAGGED OUT FOR FAILING TO MAKE CONTACT WITH A MOVING
     VEHICLE.

5.  No one under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be allowed in the pit area or arena.
     All prize money will be forfeited.  Driver and pit person will not drink in the stands
     Before or during the derby.

6.  If the driver’s door comes open the driver will be disqualified.

7.  Drivers must be ready when called or they will be disqualified.

8.  Speed limit in the pit area is (3) MPH.

9.  Fire suits are MANDITORY.

10.  ALL DECISIONS OF THE OFFICIALS AND FLAGMAN ARE FINAL.!!!!!!!!!

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

1.  FRESH VEHICLES ONLY

2.  All glass must be removed, including head and tail lights and windshields and all plastic
     Trim must be removed before coming to the event.

3.  The rear seat must be removed and all dirt and loose pieces must be swept out of the
     Vehicle.  All upholstery must be removed.

4.  Marine type fuel tanks or DOT approved fuel cells must be a minimum of three (5)
     Gallons, maximum eight (8) gallons with an anti-spill valve that must be looped in a
     Fashion to prevent siphoning in the event of a roll over.  All fuel cells have a ground
     Strap from the fill neck to the frame.  Fuel cells can be mounted in the back seat
     On the passenger side or against the rear fire wall.  Gas line if inside car, if
     Using hose and must be inside pipe.

5.  TIRES:  8 PLY TIRE MUST BE MARKED WITH PLY.  NO WATER!!!
                  TIRE IN TIRE IS OK.

6.  No interchanging of bumpers.  (Chevy to Chevy, Ford to Ford etc will be allowed but NO
     Changing like Chevy to Ford).  No trailer hitches or any reinforcements will be allowed.
     You may weld original bumper to frame but NO extra reinforcements.  All parts of the
     Body, including fenders MUST BE LEFT ON AND WHEEL WELLS MAY NOT BE CUT
     AND WRAPPED.  If bumpers are cut you must grind them smooth.  NO PRE-DENTING
     MUST HAVE OEM BUMPER.  IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A BUMPER YOU WILL NOT RUN!!

7.  Do not put advertising on front doors or rear lid.  That is where the vehicle number
     Belongs.  Must have a roof sign (see rule # 28).

8.  *******ONE BATTERY ONLY********No size limitations, batteries may be left in stock
     Position or relocated to floorboard on passenger side (must be anchored and covered).
     Batteries and gas tanks must be secured with metal straps or chains.  NO WIRE, ROPE
     OR BUNGEE STRAPS.  BATTERY MUST BE IN MARINE BATTERY BOX!!!
                                         NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE!!!

9.  Welding of drivers door only (you may do anything to the drivers door, it is for your own
     Protection).  Other doors, trunk or body frame must be chained.  Trucks must be
     Absolutely empty.  Passenger door must have a plate inside or outside just like the
     Drivers door, 5” max wide beveled ends, 6” into fenders and 6” behind door.

10.  Carburetors must have air cleaners or suitable flame arresters.  Transmission oil
      Coolers are allowed only if mounted securely with shield protection for the driver.

11.  Radiators must remain in their original position or removed completely.

12.  Vehicles must have standard suspension, spring clamps are allowed.  Two (2) OEM
     Spring clamps only per spring.  NO WELDING!!!  Wire to hold coils are OK, coil
     Spring expanders are OK.  If bumper doesn’t exceed 24” to middle of bumper.

13.  Use no more than two (2) single strands of chain to hold down trunk and hood,
     Limited to 3/8” no smaller.  NO crisscross of chains on vehicles.  Two (2) chains
     To be no longer than 6’ in length, chain ends bolted links must touch, no wire or
     Cable.  You could also use threaded rod ¾” or 1”.  Hood front rods must go through
     Frame (radiator core supports), through front of hood.  Rods must go through sheet
     Metal only, rear of trunk lid through body mounts only, 3-4” washers only.

14.  Two (2) 8” or one (1) 14” diameter holes must be cut in hood for access in case of
     Fire.

15.  No electric fuel pumps unless standard equipment.  Must have a shut off switch and
     Must be marked.

16.  For drivers safety, 3” pipe running from door post to door post, drivers side pipe can be
     Places no more than 12” behind door post, drivers side only.  With a maximum 6” square
     Plate permanently attached to vehicle body with a chain wrapped attached to vehicle
     Body with a chain wrapped around pipe down to frame or floor pan and back up bolted
     Together.  Chain links must touch.  Must drill ¼” hole two (2) inches from end of plate in
     Pipe, (pipe will be one length on sectioning pipe).  Kicker pipe allowed on drivers side only.
     Brace from roof to floor directly behind center of drivers seat is acceptable.

17.  *****DASH PIPES ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, YOU HAVE TO WELD TWO (2)
               PIECES OF FLAT STOCK TO FIRE WALL, TWO (2) PIECES PER END.  ALL
               HOLES IN FIRE WALL MUST BE COVERED WITH TIN, NO RUBBER.******

A firewall is required in both the front of the driver’s compartment to shield against engine compartment flash fires and/or debris.  The shielding in front must be from the floor to the bottom of the windshield cowl and from one side of the vehicle to the other.  The shielding material must be a minimum of .060 (1/16”) steel aluminum or .125 (1/8”) lexan.  Plexiglas is not permitted.

18.  Motor mounts can be welded and or chained.  Front and rear bumpers can be welded at
     Shocks.  No reinforcement, just weld to hold bumpers on.  You will not add any steel to
     The welds to make is stronger.  THIS INCLUDES MOTOR MOUNT WELDING.  Front
     Wheel drive cars must have motors chained front and back - must have two (2)
     Carburetor return springs.
19.  When you bring your vehicle to the pit’s a colored flag will be placed on your vehicle.
     When you are no longer capable of running or you have been disqualified, you must break
     Off the flag so that your competitors know that you are out of the competition and no
     Longer eligible to be hit

***********REMEMBER THE TWO (2) MINUTE HITTING RULE******************

20.  Have hood and trunk open when coming through the gate to facilitate checking your
     Vehicle.

21.  NO UNSPORTSMAN LIKE CONDUCT WILL BE TOLERATED, BEFORE, DURING OR
     AFTER THE DERBY!!!

22.  You may go forward and back, NO HITTING ON THE DRIVERS DOOR, as this will lead
     To disqualification.  Head-on’s will be discussed at the drivers meeting.

23.  Any two wheels out of the track or hit’s the out of bounds whether by being pushed or
     Driving out will lead to disqualification.  BOTH DRIVERS, THE PERSON BEING PUSHED
    AND THE PERSON DOING THE PUSHING WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.

24.  JUDGES RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DISQUALITY ANY VEHICLE THAT MAY BE
       UNSAFE TO THE DRIVER.

25.  All cars MUST be removed from the grounds immediately after the demo is over.

26.  IF WE FIND THAT YOUR VEHICLE DOESN’T MEET THESE RULES - YOU WILL NOT
       RUN AND YOU WILL GET NO REFUND!!

27.  YOUR VEHICLE WILL BE CHECKED AFTER THE DERBY, YOU CHEAT YOU LOSE THE
      MONEY!!!!!

28.  Roof signs 14” X 14” number only to be put on the sign.  Front drivers and passenger
      Doors will have your numbers only.  Background is to be painted white or yellow with
      Black numbers to cover 80% of the sign and door. Be sure to list 1st and 2nd choice on
     Registration form, it will be a first come basis.  You will be notified if there is a duplicate
      Number.

29.  ***You can weld two (2) 4” X 6” patch no more than 1/8” thick, to door and each side
            Door to quarter panel.  Four door vehicles only.  Door to door, back door to quarter
            Panel.

30.  *****There will be NO WELDING EXCEPT WHAT IS EXPLAINED IN THESE RULES.
       Also, there will be NO TIME to change your vehicle at the arena.  Please follow the
       Rules, add no extra weld reinforcements.  If your vehicle doesn’t meet these rules
       YOU WILL NOT RUN!!!!!!  NO QUESTIONS!!!!!!!!!! NO REFUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!11

TOWING - Vehicle towing will be handled by only one towing company contracted by the
promoter.  No other tow trucks will be allowed in the arena until after the show is over.

MODIFIED CLASS RULES:

1.  Refer to General Rules for non-building rules.

2.  No 4X4 or all-wheel drive cares allowed. Front wheel drive or rear wheel drive is allowed.

3.  Pre-derbied cars are allowed, provided they meet all rules.

VEHICLE PREPARATION:

1.  Remove all glass, chrome, plastic, moldings, headliner, dash & flammable material, A/C
    Coolant, trailer hitches.

2.  Stock gas tank MUST be removed, A small metal tank must be mounted in the rear seat
     Area.  The tank must be very secure, safe and covered.  PLASTIC TANKS ARE NOT
     ALLOWED FOR SAFETY REASONS.

3.  Electric fuel pump allowed, but switch must be clearly marked on-off.

4.  No more than two batteries allowed, which must be relocated to front passenger floor,
     Secured and covered.

5.  Floor shifter allowed.  Ignition & wiring modifications (hot-wire) allowed. 

6.  Hood must have 12” X 12” minimum hole to easily extinguish fires.  Extra hole(s) in hood
     Not required if you have at least 12” X 12” header holes.

FRAME, BODY & BUMPERS:

1.  Frame seam welding is allowed, no filler metal allowed, unless stated.  Frame repair due to
     Damage or rust is allowed - repair cannot exceed 1” past rust or damage.  Frame repair
     Metal cannot be thicker than ¼”.  Repairs can only be made on 2 of the 4 sided of the
     Frame.  Paint all repairs a bright color for identification.  Bolting or pinning of frames
     Is not allowed.

2.  Holes in frame in front of A-arm can be welded shut with max ¼” plate, do not overlap
     Existing frame more than 1”.  You must leave a ¾” diameter hole for scope inspection.
     Rear frames (behind axle only) that are factory C-channel can be boxed in with the same
     Thickness or less steel.  The center C-channel frame cannot be boxed in.

3.  No stuffing or filling frame.  Do not undercoat, paint or put any substance in or on the
     Frame.

4.  Body seam welding, body repair due to damage or rust is allowed - repair cannot exceed
     3” past rust or damage.  Body repair metal cannot be thicker than 1/8”.
5.  Firewall, floor pan (for shifter), wheel wells and fenders can be trimmed.

6.  Fenders or wheel wells may be bolted or welded.

7.  Tucking of trunk or roof is allowed.  You must allow access for inspection.

8.  Doors, trunk lid, hatchback or tailgate can be welded shut with ¼” thick X 6” max
     Plates or straps, A 12” X 12” access hold in the trunk lid or floor is required for
     Inspection.  Plates/straps cannot go to the frame.  Tops of doors can be folded
     Over and welded.  If doors are not welded shut, they must be chained/wired, if
     Using wire you must duct tape over wire, just to cover wire ends only.  Two chains
     Wires per window opening allowed.

9.  Trunk lip/tailgate & hood can be secured by a max of 6 bolts each.  Max of 1” in
     Diameter.  Bolts can be welded or bolted to frame.  You may substitute an
     Equivalent sized piece of steel (I.e. pipe or tube steel) and weld a bolt on the end,
     Instead of using a long piece of threaded rod.  No flat washers or plates bigger than
     6” X 6” X ¼”.  six (6) chains/wires can be used if bolts are not - you cannot use both
     Bolts & chain/wire.

10.   Body mounts may be removed.  Original bolts can be replaced with up to 1” max
     Diameter.  Six (6) additional body mount bolts may be added; they must all be
     Vertical and no longer than 10” with max diameter of 1”.  Any bolts holding gas tank,
     Battery box, etc. to the frame are considered body mount bolts.  No flat washers or flat
     Plates bigger than 6” X  6“ X ¼”.  Bolts can extend all the way through the frame but
     Plates will need to be off for inspection.

11.  Rear suspension conversions allowed (coil to leaf, link to leaf, etc.).  No front suspension
     Conversions allowed.  Leaf springs may not extend any further than 31” forward for full
     Size cars, measured from centerline of rear axle to center of main spring eyelet hole.
     Brackets to hold springs in place can be welded to the frame no more than 4” in any
     Direction.  No body mounts can be run through the front leaf spring mounts or be
     Attached to the leaf springs.  Leaf spring must be no thicker than 3/8”.  Main spring
     May be doubled and secondary springs must have at least a one inch stagger.  Springs
     May be clamped. Control arms, A-arms, tie-rods, ball joints, steering joints may be
     Modified.  Max bumper height of 28” from ground to bottom of bumper.

12.  Bumpers & brackets may be interchanged from make/model/year.  Homemade brackets
      Allowed, but must be no longer or thicker than stock brackets.

13.  Bumpers, shocks & brackets may be welded, bolted & chained/wired.  Two (2) pieces of
     4” X 12” X ¼” metal may be welded or bolted to help hold the bumper on.  Bumpers may be
     Trimmed, but no sharp edges.



14.  Dash bar and seat bars are allowed for driver’s safety.  Bars may be connected to each
     Other with door bars and may be connected to the floor (in four places max).  Bars may
     Not be welded to the frame except in the Imperial class.  Bars may not extend past the
     Firewall and may not extend rearward beyond the front most part of the rear wheel
     Well tubs.  Bars may not tie into rear frame humps or drive train.  Halo (rollover) bars
     Allowed but they must remain within the safety cage area.

15.  Driver’s door window and windshield net/guard is recommended.  Hardtop (no post) cars
     Must have straps or chains/wires from door to roof in door post and/or passenger area.
      Rear window straps are optional and can only connect to the speaker deck area inside the
     Car.

ENGINE & DRIVETRAIN:

1.  Any engine, transmission, rear-end combination may be used.  Rear-end must be a max of
     A five (5) lug automotive type.  Rear-end may be welded or spooled.  Rear-end may be
     Chained/wired to frame in 2 places with bolts - not welded.

2.  Engine must be within 5” of original position.  Engine components may be modified (fan
     Blades, header pipes, etc.). Transmission cooler allowed, must be secured and safe.
     Transmission may be chained/wired in place.

3.  Motor mounts may be modified to better hold engine in place, buy may not strengthen
     Car.  Engine may be welded or chained down with bracing or chains that cannot extend
     More than 12” from engine.  Four (4) places max. 

4.  Distributor protectors allowed.  However, guards and mounting brackets may not be any
     Wider than the engine block.

MISCELLANEOUS:

1.  Radiator must be in stock position.  Radibarrels (homemade radiators) allowed provided
     They are no larger than a stock radiator and do not connect to the frame, bumper, or
     Threaded rod for the hood.  No other auxiliary systems allowed.  Radiator guards
     Allowed, provided they are no thicker than ¼” and are connected only to the radiator and
     The sheet metal.  They may not connect to the frame or bumper or threaded rod for
     The hood.

2.  Any type of tire or wheel may be used.  NO split rims.  Wheel weights must be removed.
     Valve stem protectors are allowed.

3.  All cars must have number on a roof mounted sign.  Choose you own number, first come-
     First served.
